TOS Review: AIMS Education Foundation - It's about Time!

It’s About Time uses a series of investigations not only to build an understanding of how to read a clock, but also to provide a solid, conceptual understanding of time and its measurement - AIMS Education Foundation

Balsam Fir and I enjoyed spending time using this hands-on Math and Science curriculum. It's About Time by AIMS Education Foundation provides LOTS of fun ways to learn to tell time for the K-2 crowd with cute graphics, paper projects and printables.

Description:
• a 176 page, 22 activities softcover activity book with a CD
•telling time to the hour, half-hour, 5-, and 1-minute intervals

Although many activities were GROUP ones, we were able to find some for my 7-year-old to complete. Check out this clock manipulative we made for learning minutes. Now, we didn't follow the lesson to a T and kind of combined 2 projects into one, but isn't having a curriculum that can be "changed up" for YOUR STUDENT a HUGE plus?

A Peak at the Lesson
Balsam Fir Using a Judy Clock to Write in His Minutes Under
Each Clock Number Flap (Judy Clock Not Included With
Workbook)
Almost Done!
Added Minute and Hour Color-coded Hands With a Brad
Comparing Digital Time to Analog Time on his AIMS Paper
Clock Manipulative (Clock Not Included with Workbook)

Oh, and this interactive book was LOADS of fun! This book was a wonderful way to combine Language Arts with progression of time.

I Printed Out and Put Together the Book then Added a Name
Pocket to the Front with an Attached Cardstock Clock with
Clock Hands
As I Read the Book, Balsam Fir Moved the Judy Clock - Not
Included with This AIMS review - hands and Then the Paper
Clock Hands to Follow the Events in the Story

This is a creative, hands-on activity book for young learners in the classroom. This is NOT a workbook. Although some of the activities can be adapted for the single family homeschool, it's best done in small to large groups of children such as a co-op or several families learning together. (Please note that there are photocopying guidelines located at the back of the book.) The graphics are child-friendly and the step-by-step instructions for each activity are simple to follow for teachers. However, be prepared to spend a little time preparing projects for your student(s) or purchasing and/or locating some additional manipluatives! 1. This looks like a fun one! I'll have to keep in mind for Kayleigh.
