Weekly Wrap-up: Week 8 - Some Frustrations As Quarter Ends

EVERYDAY LIFE
This week we celebrated what would have been my nephew's 2nd birthday on Tuesday. Ayden was born a preemie, living only a precious hour. He'll always be in our hearts! We shared a dark chocolate cupcake with vanilla buttercream, and lit 2 candles in remembrance.

I visited a Rheumatoid Arthritis specialist as well. I had hoped to have answers to my lingering wrist and finger stiffness and discomfort, and possible treatment. I've become frustrated with the lack of strength in my hands. I have things to do! But he didn't have any answers for me, "wait and see".

Then the kids, with their Dad watching, spilled water on my laptop. I am now SOMETIMES missing 3 very important keys. It is less than 7 months old and water damage is not covered under warranty. I have been quite frustrated about this as all 3 know there are no drinks around electronics, and a large part of our school is on-line...But the keys occasionally work so I have hope that it is not permanently damaged.

And that snapped tree is still hung up on some branches of another tree, threatening the chicken and duck run. Cross your fingers! For now there isn't a lot that can be done but stay away as it seems quite "hung up".

MENU
• Cheeseburger Mac, Cucumber Slices & Homemade Applesauce • BBQ Chicken Drumsticks, Rice Pilaf, Corn & Pears • Sub Sandwiches, Doritos & Choice of Fruit • Creamy Spaghetti, Green Beans & Pears and/or Grapes

HOMESCHOOL HAPPENINGS
Our first quarter is complete! It's been a wonderful year thus far! I have been quite happy with the pleasant attitudes and focused attention to studies, most days. Be sure to check out my quarter goal check here. We're doing A-OK!

To vacation or not to vacation next week is the question? Usually we break between quarters, but the kids took a week off to spend time with Nannie and Grandpa Lobster and Cousins Noodle and Nugget just a couple of weeks ago. And then there Thanksgiving AND Christmas breaks...

  2. Oh what a week you have had! I do hope your lap top survives, it is amazing what a huge role computers play in our lives...I was just talking to a friend about how that is the one thing we would almost immediately (as in that day) replace if something happened to it...Enjoy your weekend!

    1. So very true, Beth! My laptop is used most of the day - homeschooling, planning lessons, e-mailing, job searches and contacts, recipes, Facebook and Pinterest, You Tube (for learning and personal), Hulu (since we have no TV or Netflix). It has a HUGE impact when it's not working!

  3. I understand about water in the computer problem. I lost a computer totally to a soda spilled on it. This computer is now so old that the keys sometimes have a mind of its own and begins typing brackets over and over again. LOL I am sorry to hear about your nephew, but I am glad that he is celebrated and missed. Your menus always sound so good. As always, you accomplish so much each week.

    1. But the computer continued to work? Except for the left CTRL key, it is working, and since I have a right CTRL key that works...Phew! Thanks for coming by, Phyllis!

  5. Sorry the doctor didn't have any answers for you. I hope waiting works for both your hand and the computer. But congrats on a great first quarter. First and last seem to be the hardest here.

    1. Thanks, Christy! My laptop is working almost 100%, so I'll go with it! LOL My hands and wrists? Well, we'll see! Unfortunately, as you know, it can take doctors a while to find the correct diagnosis sometimes.

  8. Oh my! That's too bad about the computer! I hope it fixes itself as it dries out! There is hope. I had a broken fan on mine for months and then one day it just magically all on it's own began working again! Anyway...I say take the vacation YOLO!!

  10. I'm sorry your hand pain means you can't do all you would like to. That must be so frustrating.
I poured coffee all over my key board. Thankfully only the keyboard needed replacing. I do hope yours dries out and works again.
    Have a lovely week!
